Hello Doll!

Welcome to The Rethreadery.

I’m Beth.

I created The Rethreadery in 2009, with minimal sewing skills and a passion for finding thrifted treasures to revive or repurpose.

Fashion for me has always been a way to express myself when I felt unheard. We all have our favorite pair of jeans that have been there for us through thick and thin; or that cozy sweater that makes you feel at home when the world feels like chaos.

Over the years, I have worked for many of the biggest brands in fast fashion and home goods retailers. I have seen the rampant waste and blantant disregard for fair and safe work practices from some of the most “eco-friendly”, “fair-trade” companies.

So, what did I do? I kicked and screamed and stood up to the man!

But let’s be real, is one scrappy girl from Philly really going to take down an international corporation?

I won’t say I didn’t try a few times.

After some serious reflection, I decided to focus my energy on something more productive. Learning as much as I possibly could to create my own empire.

What did I learn you ask? Well, I guess you will have to stick around to find out!

I started collecting knowledge. Started collecting materials. Started collecting more creative people in my life. Started collecting the hours. Collecting the fails. Collecting the scars. I just kept grinding, all while climbing the corporate ladder at my full time job. Always knowing deep down I had a bigger purpose.

Everyday I remind myself it is progress not perfection.

This is how I will make my impact. I will be the change. I will see the potential in creative reuse and do what I can on a local level to reduce some of the waste. I will empower other creatives to bring their vision to life. But above all, I will run an inclusive, kind and conscious company focused on making the world a better place.
